Case Studies
Arundel Arms
This project involved the expansion of an existing charging hub to meet increasing demand in the area. The scope included installing 6 additional charging posts, bringing the total to 14. To support the more advanced charging posts, a new substation was also installed to meet the increased power requirements.
One of the key challenges was creating enough space on the site for the additional chargers. This required extending the car park to the rear of the existing setup, where there was a significant 1.5-meter drop in levels. To address this, we constructed a retaining wall and installed a timber fence to accommodate the substantial elevation changes.
To ensure the site was both functional and aesthetically pleasing, we resurfaced the entire area with fresh tarmac and applied new white lines to eliminate any scarring. This was a project where we truly went above and beyond to enhance the overall appearance and functionality of the site
Frankley South Service Station
The objective of this project was to install a new electric vehicle (EV) charging hub within a highly constrained area of an existing car park. Given the limited space available, extensive planning and design work were essential to maximise efficiency and usability. The process involved multiple site visits and several iterations of the design before finalising a plan that allowed us to install 15 standard charging bays along with an accessible bay.
One of the primary challenges, aside from the intricate design considerations, was establishing a power connection for the charging units. The designated power source was located on the opposite side of a motorway slip road, approximately 80 meters away from the construction area. To address this, we employed directional drilling techniques. This approach allowed us to install ducts and lay power cables beneath the road surface, effectively eliminating the need to close the carriageway and minimising disruption.
The project was completed to a high standard, with the site receiving a new tarmac surface and freshly painted white lines to ensure a seamless appearance. These finishing touches were meticulously applied to conceal any signs of excavation, leaving the area not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing.
